Starting November 27, the LEGO group will be bringing the largest set in its history to stores, a set from which a model of the famous Colosseum in Rome can be built. The brick amphitheater has, after a long assembly, a height of 27 cm, width 52 cm and depth 59 cm. The LEGO Group was founded in Billund, Denmark in 1932 and has 616 stores worldwide, with total sales of $ 2.5 billion in the first half of 2020.
The total number of pieces is 9,036. It is the largest LEGO brick set released so far, the previous record held by a Star Wars set.
The model includes a reproduction of the three distinct floors of the Colosseum, with Doric, Ionic and Corinthian columns. These columns have been faithfully recreated in the form of LEGO bricks, using a suite of creative building techniques, including decorative scrolls, recreated by recoloring a LEGO roll element, flipped, for an authentic look, the company says.
The set also includes 80 arcades in the spectator area (same number as the original) and three shades of colors to replicate the various columns and suggest the passage of time for the almost 2000 year milestone.
