US President-elect Joe Biden has called on Americans to end the dark age of division as the country faces a long and difficult winter due to Covid-19, reports BBC News.

In a message to Americans on Thanksgiving, he said that “we are at war with the coronavirus, not against each other.”

“I believe these turbulent times of dissent and demonization will give way to a year of light and unity,” Biden said.

The Democrat also said that Americans will never accept that the result of free elections will not be respected.

“In America, we have free and fair elections and we respect the results. The people and the laws of this country will accept nothing else,” he warned.

At the same time, he urged people to avoid high-risk holiday traditions, as the number of infections is still very high.

On the other side of the fence, incumbent President Donald Trump has urged his supporters to help overturn the outcome of the November 3 presidential election.

He resumed the baseless allegations of election fraud. Trump addressed a Republican senator in the Pennsylvania State Assembly via a cell phone placed on the speaker and held in front of the microphone by his attorney Rudy Giuliani.

“We have to reverse these elections,” he said. The Democrats “cheated. They were fraudulent elections.”
