Aerosol transmission of the coronavirus is still a subject of debate internationally, but the study here indicates that it is the most common way of contamination, so experts stress the importance of explaining the phenomenon to the population.
The drops, it is said, infect by impact in the eyes, nostrils or mouth and fall to the ground 1-2 meters away from the person who emits them.
But aerosols, due to their much smaller size, have greater infectivity, because they penetrate the lungs and can cause severe forms of COVID-19 disease.
A new recommendation from the experts to the public is not to talk in closed, crowded spaces, such as subway cars.
