World Health Organization: Every 17 seconds someone in Europe dies of a crown

In the past two weeks, the number of disease-related deaths from Covid 19 has increased by 18%, WHO European Region Director Hans Kluge said Thursday at an online press conference in Copenhagen. More than 29,000 deaths were recorded last week, which means that every 17 seconds one person in the European region dies with Covid-19.

The fact that 4,500 lives are currently lost to Covid-19 per day is avoidable, Kluge said. Those who adhere to guidelines and take action against disinformation are making a contribution to avoiding death.

But Kluge also had positive things to report: thanks to careful behavior, the number of new infections per week dropped from over two million in the previous week to around 1.8 million. “This is a small signal, but a signal nonetheless,” said Kluge.

Furthermore, there are also growing signs that health systems in Europe are reaching their limits due to the increase in the number of crowns. In France, for example, intensive care units have been working for ten days at a capacity above 95 percent, while in Switzerland they have already reached full capacity.

According to the regional director, 28% of all coronary infections recorded worldwide and 26% of all coronary deaths recorded in the world were recorded in Europe. In the European region, where WHO has more than 50 countries, there have been about 15.8 million infections and nearly 355,000 related deaths so far, according to the organization.
