Tourists are currently in short supply in Mallorca. The Mediterranean island is waiting for an unhappy season. Hundreds of restaurants and hotels will not survive the Crown season, that’s already certain. The bankrupt vulture hovers over the rocky island.
Airplane parking at Mallorca airports is even more popular. As these are practically full in Britain, British Airways sends its medium-haul jets to the holiday island. The aeronautical portal Aerotelegraph reports it.
Thousands of planes on the ground
The crown crisis has hit the aviation industry around the world with full gravity. Thousands of planes are on the ground instead of carrying cargo or passengers in flight. Currently, only those who absolutely have to fly. Many routes are no longer served.
This has consequences: Airplane parking is becoming a rare and correspondingly sought-after commodity. British Airways therefore sends more than 20 of its short and medium-haul jets to Mallorca. Airbus A319, A320 and A321 recently arrived at Son Sant Koan airport.
Two airports are already fully booked
Tarbes and Teruel airports, specializing in long-term storage of cars, are practically full. European airlines appreciate the dry and hot weather. (pbe)
