In recent days, several currency exchange frauds have occurred in Vorarlberg, as reported by the state police department. The offender often chooses opportunities where several people are already waiting in front of the cashier, which puts the cashier under pressure. Victims tend not to notice the fraud. The author’s scam works like this: he asks the cashier if he can change more 5 euro bills into larger bills. “The cash is counted by the employee and the bill is prepared. The author then withdraws the stack of 5 euro banknotes and wants to count them again, ”describes the police. In the course of this, the author skillfully takes a few bills from the pile and puts the rest back again. This is how cashiers are scammed because they do not receive the originally accepted amount.
Police ask for clues
The author is a man between the ages of 30 and 35, 160 to 170 centimeters tall, southern appearance, short black hair. According to the police, the man speaks bad German, wears a gray protective mask, a green padded jacket, a blue hooded sweater, dark pants and dark shoes. The author is driving a silver Skoda Octavia with a supposedly foreign license plate.
