Thousands of people gathered in central Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon to protest the epidemic restrictions, and law enforcement officers used water cannons to disperse the protesters, Mediafax reports.
According to the authorities, about 2,000 people are taking part in the protest organized by the leftist movement “Lateral Thinking”. The protest began in the area of Frankfurt’s central station.
Protesters denounce the partial quarantine in Germany, wearing masks on the street and respecting the distance.
Authorities used water cannons to disperse demonstrators, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
“We urge people in the Rathenauplatz area to leave this place immediately,” Frankfurt police said on Twitter.
