Surveillance cameras in a wilderness area of Florida (United States) captured the moment A 74-year-old man saved his 3-month-old cub from an alligator’s jaws.
Richard Wilbanks, the protagonist of the story, told ‘CNN’ that he was walking with Gunner, his puppy, on the banks of a pond when an alligator “went out like a missile” from the water and caught the dog: “I never thought an alligator could be this fast. It was so fast!“.

Hearing Gunner’s screech, which the man described as a son to him and his wife, Wilbanks decided to jump into the water, take the alligator out, and open the reptile’s mouth to let his pet escape.
The impressive video shows the man putting his hand between the alligator’s teeth and the cub’s body, finally releasing it with a blow.
“Holding the alligator wasn’t that difficult, but opening the jaws was extremely difficult,” Wilbanks added to ‘CNN’.
He also said he had to go to the doctor to have his hands seen, as they ended up injured from fighting the reptile. In addition, he received a vaccine against tetanus, a disease that can occur as a result of an open wound through which bacteria enter.

Faced with the possibility of the attacking reptile being taken out of its natural habitat and euthanized, Louise Wilbanks, Richard’s wife, told CNN that this experience made her realize that she and her husband should be more careful about the creatures. that they surround them and I would not agree with this measure.
“We must be aware that they are wild animals. I’m not here for our benefit. We are fortunate to share this space with them, ”he said.
