Finds of metal monoliths are on the rise. After Utah (USA) and Romania, it is now the turn of the city of Atascadero, in the US state of California. The strange sculpture was found on Pine Mountain.
This discovery makes the rumor mill simmer. Some suspect a simple public relations gag, others see it as the work of aliens. One thing is clear: no artist has publicly recognized himself as the author of the sculptures.

According to the New York Post, the person who found the Californian monolith was hiker Gary Lyons. He filmed the facility and said: “Be prepared to see it everywhere”. The “Atascadero News” writes that the monolith was discovered on Wednesday. The first monolith in Utah, found on November 18, also received similar attention. Numerous viewers went on pilgrimage to him after his location was posted on the Internet. On November 27, he disappeared again in a night and fog operation. The manufacturer is still unknown. According to his own statements, “Sketchy” base jumper Andy Lewis, who hails from Moab, a city in Utah, has removed the monolith.
Reason: He wanted to protect the estate after a large number of spectators had visited the monolith. They left their cars everywhere in the vegetation and polluted the environment leaving their waste behind.
Is there a connection?
Meanwhile, on November 27, a monolith was also found in the Romanian region of Piatra Neamt. However, this disappeared again on December 1st. How or by whom it was removed is not known.
A Romanian reporter told Reuters that the Romanian monolith was made by a local welder. Furthermore, it is currently unknown whether there is a connection between the three monoliths. (myi)
