This result does not change Biden’s electoral victory: as expected, US President Trump managed to prevail over his Democratic challenger in Alaska. Meanwhile, grades in Georgia are recounted by hand.

Incumbent Donald Trump secured a majority in the state of Alaska in the US presidential election, according to broadcasters. This is the result of matching predictions from CNN and NBC based on previous vote counts and voter polls.

Alaska is considered a safe bulwark for Republicans. The three voters from the sparsely populated state at the northwestern tip of the United States have already gone to Trump in 2016 with a clear majority. All the polls have again seen the Republican in the lead. However, the Alaska result cannot change Trump’s Democratic challenger Joe Biden’s victory in the national elections: with 279 votes, Biden has already achieved the necessary majority for the election meeting in December.

In Georgia, the count is done by hand

Given the narrow gap between Trump and Biden’s election results in the state of Georgia, all votes cast are recounted by hand. This was announced by the responsible secretary of state Brad Raffensperger.

However, Georgia was also not decisive in Biden’s election victory: the state of Pennsylvania had already lifted Democrats beyond the 270-required voter threshold. Georgia, with 16 voters, could only cement Biden’s success – or play a role if Trump’s lawyers manage to overturn the results in other states. However, US legal experts estimate the odds of this happening are very low.

First victory for Georgia Democrats since 1992

Biden leads Georgia with 14,111 votes, Raffensperger said. This is many times more than the difference in previous stories. About five million votes were cast in Georgia. Biden would be the first Democrat after Bill Clinton in 1992 to win the presidential election in Georgia.
