US federal agencies broke into the office of a Michigan science and technology center last month during an investigation into cryptography, the local Wood-TV newspaper reported on January 5.
As reported by Wood-TV, Chris Boden, the founder of The Geek Group, has released a public statement on YouTube Saturday Night, which has apparently been canceled. Reportedly, Boden stated that the office of his technology-based nonprofit organization had been searched by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on December 21, elaborating that computers and other equipment were taken from his office.
Wood-TV reported that Boden had declared "to trade commercially in cryptocurrency" [sic] without the right authorization. "
According to reports, the founder believes he is facing a federal prison term and up to $ 100,000 in legal fees.
Boden posted on Facebook today, January 6, that he would write a live public statement in an open Google document, which reads the press:
"On the advice of the legal council I will not make further comments on the ongoing investigations of the government".
