Trump’s crown adviser resigns
Tuesday 1 December, 03:40: The controversial crown adviser to incumbent US President Donald Trump, radiologist Scott Atlas, has submitted his resignation. In a letter to Trump, he wrote: “I have worked hard and focused on one thing: saving lives and helping Americans overcome this pandemic.”
The radiologist had worked for the United States government since August. According to consistent media reports, his contract would still expire after 130 days this week. Now he uses his resignation statement to defend himself from criticism. Atlas himself claimed to have always relied on the latest scientific knowledge and to have done so “without any consideration or political influence”.
Indeed, the doctor had spoken out against the strict containment measures and questioned the usefulness of the masks. In doing so, he drew criticism in particular from another member of the Corona working group at the White House: the eminent immunologist Anthony Fauci has publicly disagreed with Atlas’ views.
In mid-November, after tighter crown regulations in states like Michigan, Atlas tweeted: “It only ends when people get up.” The tweet was also explosive because just a few weeks earlier a group of suspects had been arrested who, according to investigators, wanted to kidnap and possibly kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer due to previous crown measures. Atlas later wrote that he did not want to incite violence.
The radiologist wrote in his resignation letter that he wished only the best for the “new team” – and apparently meant that of President-elect Joe Biden.
Arizona and Wisconsin confirm Biden’s victory
Monday 30 November, 23:20: Arizona is another hotly contested US state that officially confirmed the presidential election result with the victory of Joe Biden. Wisconsin authorities also confirmed the US president-elect’s victory after a recount in two districts on Monday.
With that, the current Donald Trump suffers another setback in his attempts to overturn the outcome of the November 3 election by legal means. Biden won in Arizona with about 10,500 votes, in Wisconsin it was about 20,700 after a recount. Trump’s lawyers have failed in court with lawsuits against the election results.
Trump still claims without proof that he lost the election only due to massive election fraud. Previously, major states such as Georgia and Pennsylvania had already confirmed the election results.
Confirmation of the election result in Arizona also has the side effect of reducing the majority of Trump Republicans in the Senate from 53 to 52 votes. Democrat Mark Kelly, who defeated Republican Senator Marthy McSally, is expected to be sworn in this week because it was a special vote.
The remaining newly elected senators will not be sworn in until early 2021. Whether Democrats or Republicans have a majority in the Senate won’t be decided until the two ballot elections in Georgia on January 5.

The Democrat with Jen Psaki occupies the leading role of government spokesperson – she was, among other things, the White House communications director and the State Department spokesperson under former Democratic President Barack Obama. After the election, Psaki had conducted several briefings with reporters for Biden. She appeared clear and professional. Your deputy in the White House will be Karine Jean-Pierre, who last worked for Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, as Biden said.
“I am proud to announce today the first high-level communications team in the White House to feature women only,” Biden said. Biden’s current Deputy Campaign Director Kate Bedingfield is expected to become the White House communications director.
