Everything points to a closer result than predicted by the polls.

A tight race is underway in the crucial state of Pennsylvania. Trump won Swing State Ohio, and the incumbent also won Florida. Michigan and Wisconsin go to Biden, according to CNN.

At the start of election night, the first election poll results in the United States were released. One of the questions asked was which topics were most important to voters. The answer most often given was the economy with 34%, followed by racism (21%) and coronavirus (18%).

US Elections: Who Won?

To win the election, both candidates need the votes of the competitive states. So both could win:

Bidens Floor A: Recapture Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Bidens Plan B: Arizona and North Carolina went instead of Pennsylvania.

Trump only has one Plan A: Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania must win. So a defeat in Wisconsin and Michigan is bearable.

Participation in 2020

The turnout is heading towards the record of the century. Shortly before the election, it became known that around 99 million citizens had already voted by mail or in person before election day. In 2016, a total of almost 139 million voters (138,846,571) voted. The turnout was 60.1 percent.

For comparison: Turnout in the 2017 federal elections in Germany was 76.2%. The highest voter turnout was in Minnesota in 2016, with a turnout of 74.2%. The lowest was in Hawaii with 43.2%. Clinton won in both states.

Strongholds of Democrats and Republicans at a glance

The Republicans had nothing to gain in Delaware, and the Democrats had no chance in Oklahoma. In Texas, however, traditionally also a Republican stronghold, the leadership of the Trump party dissolved significantly, but eventually the state went to Trump.

House of Representatives and Senate

The presidential election overshadows almost everything in the public eye. But all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 senators were elected, or about a third of the House of Lords. In the United States, lawmakers are elected for two years and senators for six years.

According to forecasts, the Democrats were able to defend their majority in the House of Representatives. Additionally, a supporter of the right-wing QAnon conspiracy theory was elected to the House of Representatives. Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene is expected to prevail over her Democratic rival in the state of Georgia.

After much euphoria, the Democrats suffered a major setback in the battle for the Senate. Several Republican senators, who were considered a shaky candidate, were able to defend their seats. In the remaining open contests, Republicans have a good chance of winning a majority of 51 of the 100 seats.
