US President Donald Trump has dismissed the head of the federal agency responsible for election security. Christopher Krebs’s statement, which had guaranteed the safety of the November 3, 2020 presidential election, was “deeply inaccurate,” Trump said without evidence on Twitter.
There would be “massive inadequacies and fraud”, the deceased would cast their votes, and in polling stations there would be “failures” with automatic vote counting – all false claims that have already been rejected by several US courts.
Twitter has tagged the president’s posts with warnings about these unsubstantiated claims. Trump refuses to admit his defeat in the elections and spoke of electoral fraud even before the election without a base. Krebs has been appointed by Trump as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Loyalty as the most important job qualification
After the election, Trump fired senior employees he doesn’t consider loyal enough. He fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper on November 9, and then temporarily replaced him with his ally Christopher Miller.
Krebs was previously a manager at the Microsoft software company. He has been the head of the CISA authority since it was founded in the wake of Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election. Krebs has received accolades among the parties for coordinating efforts at federal, state and local levels against domestic and foreign influence on electoral systems.
