The annual Theodor Herzl Award honors personalities who helped promote the ideas of Herzl, the founder of Zionism, for a safer and more tolerant world for Jews. Among those who received this recognition is German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2019, but also US President-elect Joe Biden in 2016.
