The highest terrorist alert level still applies in France. Investigators point out, however, that there is no evidence of a terrorist background for the attacks.
(dpa) An attacker killed two men on the street in Cholet, western France, and seriously injured a woman. A 35-year-old living in the neighborhood was arrested by police, AFP news agency reported Saturday evening citing the prosecutor’s office. Investigators initially have no evidence of a terrorist background for the attacks.
In the attack in the city south-east of Nantes, a man assaulted an elderly couple for the first time: an 83-year-old died and his 81-year-old wife was seriously injured. Another attack killed a man of about 50.
In France, the highest terrorist alert level applies due to several alleged acts of violence with several deaths. It was only at the end of October that an attacker killed three people in a church in Nice, in the south of France.
