In this way, only a few cases of coronavirus have been detected in New Zealand in recent months. Thanks to this, social life has largely returned to normal. CITIZENS HEAR THE WARNINGS
In New Zealand, the government resorted to strict quarantine practices in areas where cases were detected, while Japan, runner-up, followed a different path. In Japan, even in such an epidemic by law, the state cannot impose restrictions on its citizens such as a curfew. However, due to tuberculosis outbreaks in the past, Japan has a health system prepared for outbreaks. Based on this, some argue that authoritarian regimes are more effective in fighting the epidemic than democracies. However, 8 of the 10 most successful countries on the list are governed by democracy. Bloomberg stressed that in these countries, citizens trust their state and that the state communicates transparently with citizens. This relationship of trust allows people to respect the measures taken.
