His insistence that Biden can only enter the White House if he can prove that the votes for him were illegal on a promise made for Thanksgiving, where he said he would “certainly” leave the White House if Biden was elected from the constituency.
Trump said Biden would have had a hard time proving the legality of his record of 80 million votes, describing it as a “big unsolvable problem.”
Twitter, which has reported dozens of its tweets reporting fraud to voters since November 3, promptly added under the post: “This claim about election fraud is contested.”
What to watch for
Members of the constituency formally meet on December 14 to vote for president and vice president. A few weeks later, these votes are counted and certified in a joint session of the congress on January 6. This session is chaired by the incumbent Vice President, who, in this case, is Mike Pence.

Since before the election, Trump has made unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud and illegal voting. He ramped up the charges in the weeks that followed, refusing to admit and launching a barrage of largely meritless legal attacks in increasingly desperate offers to overturn the outcome, with one member of his legal team being ousted from the campaign after pushing an outlandish conspiracy theory somehow involving a late Hugo Chavez in a plot to manipulate voting machines.
