According to the prosecutor’s office, the women allegedly accused of the alkaloid were recruited by one of the members of the criminal structure, who offered them job opportunities in Spain.

“The victims were sent on commercial flights to Madrid, where their prostheses with the alkaloid were removed, including in makeshift operating rooms in that city,” the entity said.

According to the prosecutor’s investigations, which included monitoring people and wiretapping, a surgical instrument, working in a Cali hospital, is accused of participating in the surgeries.

Likewise, “a man who pretended to be a doctor, not being qualified, and who in recent days worked as a general practitioner (telemedicine for covid-19 patients) in a recognized hospital in Medellín”.

The neighboring country portal added, citing the Ficalía, that the arrests went into effect on November 5. They confiscated 14 telephones and a passport.
