The world recorded a record 600,000 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 in one day and has increased the death toll to 1,235,140 since the first cases were reported in December, according to the AFP investigation at 11:00 .

The countries that recorded the highest number of new deaths in the most recent reports were the United States, with 1,226 new deaths, India (670) and Brazil (630).
The United States is the most affected country in terms of deaths and cases, with 234,944 deaths per 9,610,9677 cases, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. At least 3,781,751 people have been declared cured.
After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil, with 161,736 deaths and 5,612,319 cases, India, with 124,985 (8,411,724 cases), Mexico with 93,772 deaths (949,197 cases) and the United Kingdom with 48,120. deaths (1,123,197 cases).
Among the worst affected countries, Belgium has the highest number of deaths in relation to its population, with 108 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Peru (105), Spain (82) and Brazil (76).
China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) officially counted a total of 86,151 cases (36 new cases between Thursday and Friday), of which 4,634 dead and 81,081 people already recovered.
