The TRON Foundation launched the TRC20 exchange this week. It is a place where people can exchange tokens issued on the TRON platform. The TRC20 exchange is located on TRX.market. The TRC10 token exchange is still on Tronscan, the main block explorer and the information service for the Tron ecosystem.
The TRC20 and TRC10 tokens can be interpreted as truncated analogues to the ERC-20 tokens. The TRC10 token is a token issued by the user who does not require the writing of an intelligent contract. The TRC20 token offers all the functionality and power of a contract-based smart token system. TRC20 is very similar to ERC20. All that is needed to issue a TRC10 token is 1024 TRX, which is the equivalent of Ether in the system. TRX was trading at $ 0.013 USD at time of writing.
At the moment, Tron has a number of decentralized applications running, and despite the general market downturn, usage has increased by 48% compared to last week. Usage has exceeded the threshold of 1 million transactions in a single 24-hour period. In their blog on the topic, Tron wrote:
"This week, the number of 24-hour transactions for Dapps reached 1.04 million, a 48% increase over last week, the 24-hour trading volume reached 640M TRX, a 151% increase over last year week, we saw significant increases in both indices […]"
One of the most interesting projects on Tron is SeedIt, a decentralized platform that allows users to contribute funds to the creators of content they value most. Also Project Atlas, which encourages people to sow content on the BitTorrent protocol, the flagship program for which Tron acquired again in July.
Ethereum DApps does not see much use
If we take a look at the rankings on dAppRadar and dAppTrack, we see that the Ethereum dApps would be in a new segment of use if they saw something close to the transaction activity of the Tron dors. There are factors that mitigate the actual use of Ethereum dApp and one is that several secondary platforms have been created and managed on Ethereum that would not contribute to the direct activity of Ethereum dApp.
Furthermore, not all token activities are decentralized enforcement tasks, for example the basic attention token is not exactly a decentralized application. However, it sees several thousand tokens transmitted at the time. Same with Binance Coin (BNB), which has a higher volume than many non-token altcoins. BNB had over $ 15 million in volume in the last 24 hours at the time of writing. Since it is not used as a decentralized application, it does not count as a dApp transaction activity despite its high usage.
This means that we are not suggesting that the Ethereum blockchain is currently underutilized. But the data tell us that the dream of the decentralized apps of Ethereum has yet to be realized in the form of "killer dApp".
The main goal of most Ethereum developers was the scalability of solutions. Second-level downsizing has been one of the main investment routes in the world of Ethereum. Projects like Raiden and 0x have seen huge investments, and the dApps that are based on these sidechains would not necessarily contribute to the statistics of Ethereum mainnet.
