Donald Trump Jr. (42) is certainly the mischief of many liberal Americans and his father’s opponents.
The eldest son of US President Donald Trump (74) was infected with the corona virus. His spokesperson said Friday (local time) that he tested positive for the pathogen earlier in the week. After the test result, he went into quarantine.
The spokesperson pointed out that the president’s son had no symptoms of Covid 19.
Trump Jr. had actively participated in his father’s fight for a second term in office with provocative far-right messages in online networks. In a tweet he even caused worldwide unease and shaking his head when he called for an “all-out war” for the elections in the Nazi speech.
In the US, after the positive test, the question immediately arose as to where the president’s son might have been infected. News channel “CNN” reported that on November 3 he was at an election party with 250 other guests in the White House. Many of those present wore no masks.
In fact, Donald Trump Jr. is one of Trump’s many confidants who tested positive this week. Two others: Senator Chuck Grassley, 87, from Iowa and Senator Rick Scott, 67, from Florida.
The reason for the malice about the test is different, however: Trump Jr. had been spreading a lot of misinformation about the corona virus in recent weeks. For example, days before the election he told the “Fox News” broadcaster that the number of deaths from Covid-19 was now “almost nil”. By that time, nearly 240,000 infected Americans had died and the daily death toll was as high as it was in the spring.
Already the summer, his Twitter account was blocked from sharing a video in which false information about the drug hydroxychloroquine was spread. And he shared a conspiracy theory on Facebook that questioned the effectiveness of coronavirus masks.
Corona virus infection was detected in father and stepmother Melania Trump (50) in early October. For this reason, the president was treated for several days with a cocktail of experimental drugs at Walter Reed Military Hospital.
After Trump’s infection, a whole host of other infections have been reported from his environment. Including: Housing Minister Ben Carson, Presidential Advisor David Bossie, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Trump’s witty former adviser Kellyanne Conway and his confidant Hope Hicks.
However, Trump repeatedly downplays the extent of the pandemic. After his recovery, he invited the population to “not be afraid” of Corona and not to be “dominated” by the virus.
Obviously the numbers speak a different language. The United States is the country most affected by the pandemic in the world. More than 253,000 people in the United States have already died from the corona infection. The number of confirmed cases of the infection is also the highest in the world with over 11.8 million.
