The Double Troika of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) issued a statement asking the international community to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Democratic Republic of the Congo APP, learned here on Friday. The Double Troika Summit also invited the community to support the DRC government to maintain a peaceful and stable environment after crucial elections and to avoid actions that are detrimental to the electoral process.
The Summit recognized and emphasized the role of the Constitutional Court of the DRC and called on the international community to respect the Constitution of the DRC. The Summit also called for the continuation of the implementation of the peace, security and cooperation framework in the DRC and the region.
The Summit reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the political processes of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and on the neutralization of the negative forces and other armed groups operating in the Democratic Republic of Eastern Congo, and to remain aware of the issue.
