Peter Kigen woke up feeling immense pain when an incision was made in his right leg
A man who had been deemed dead by doctors woke up in the morgue while being embalmed. The case took place this Tuesday in Kenya.
Peter Kigen, 32, suffers from a chronic illness and, when he passed out at home Tuesday, was transported to Kapkatet Hospital in Kericho Municipality, where he was presumed to have died. Three hours later, when the professionals at the morgue were preparing to embalm him, starting with an incision in Peter’s right leg, the man felt and woke up crying with pain.
The patient’s younger brother, Kevin Kipkurui, told Kenyan newspaper The Standard that the nurse had informed him that Peter had died before arriving at the hospital. Denis Langat, the man’s uncle, also told local Citizen TV that hospital staff said they had “casually checked” his nephew’s condition before declaring his death.
Quoted by The Standard, Peter said, straight from his hospital bed, that he was “happy to be alive” and promised to “dedicate his life to evangelization”.
