A former deputy transport minister of Russia bought the control package of Russian arms manufacturer Kalashnikov, the company announced on Friday, cited by Reuters and Russian media, according to Agerpres. Alan Lusnikov, former Deputy Minister of Transport between 2017 and 2018, acquired a 75% lower stake in Kalashnikov through TKH-Invest.

Lushnikov bought the majority stake of Deputy Defense Minister Aleksei Krivoruciko, who is among the top Russian officials on the EU sanctions list for poisoning Russian opponent Aleksei Navalny, a Kremlin critic.

Transaction price
Kalashnikov did not disclose the terms of the transaction, but a source in the Russian financial market told Moscow business newspaper Kommersant that the transaction would amount to 1 billion rubles ($ 12.91 million).
The Russian arms manufacturer has been subject to US sanctions since 2014, following Moscow’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula and Russia’s support for separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine.
Kalashnikov is responsible for 95% of small arms production in Russia. In recent years, the Russian manufacturer has diversified its range, also producing high-precision weapons, drones, military and civilian stars, according to the Russian publication.
