Speaking to Russia Today (RT), Peskov explained why Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accepted the apology he wished for the Russian helicopter accidentally crashed in Armenia.

Peskov said: “The immediate reaction of the Azeris and the president of Azerbaijan, the announcement that Baku is ready to conduct an impartial investigation and punish the criminals, makes it clear that the apology will be accepted.” According to Sputnik reports, Peskov, who described the event as a “tragedy”, recalled that 2 Russian soldiers lost their lives.

The Russian helicopter was shot down on November 9, near the village of Yeraskh, on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Aliyev called Russian President Vladimir Putin and apologized and said the criminals would be punished.
