The Czech president will appoint a new health minister on Thursday to replace Roman Prymula, who was sacked after being caught violating the measures he himself has taken against the coronavirus, AFP reports, according to Agerpres. “President Milos Zeman will appoint Jan Blatny as Minister of Health on Thursday,” Zeman spokesman Jiri Ovcacek said in a Twitter post.
Jan Blatny is a pediatric hematologist and deputy director of a hospital in the second largest Czech city, Brno. He has no political experience.
The resigned health minister, Roman Prymula, was caught by a photographer as he was leaving a restaurant in Prague that theoretically should have been closed, according to anti-COVID restrictions also imposed by the government to which he belongs.
