Iván Duque, president of Colombia, said today that the authorities have identified the material author of the car bomb attack perpetrated in the cadet school of the General Police Francisco de Paula Santander, which resulted in at least nine deaths and 54 wounded.

"The investigation is progressing and the material author has been identified, and we're going to act with all the firmness," Duque said from the attack site.

The Colombian Attorney General, Néstor Humberto Martínez, said that he is a man identified as José Aldemar Rodríguez, who is presumed to have died when he exploded 80 kilos of pentonite he was carrying in a van.

Early versions indicate that the subject arrived at the door of the school and when he was stopped by security checks he accelerated the vehicle and crashed into a wall to provoke detonation.
