The United States is still deeply divided over a 1973 Supreme Court decision. At the time, judges granted women the right to abortion nationwide. Evangelicals – who vote for Republicans by a majority – want to revoke this right to abortion. Also, same-sex marriage could be put under pressure.
Last but not least, evangelicals fear that churches may lose their tax privileges under the Biden presidency. Even then, the Supreme Court would likely have the last word.
3. Barrett could overturn Obamacare
The Trump administration is making another attempt to overturn the Supreme Court reform, with the first hearing scheduled for the week after the presidential election. Trump only said last week that he hoped the court would abolish Obamacare. Democrats are warning, more recently, that this would cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance.
