Sixteen people, including four Americans, were killed on Wednesday in a suicide attack by the jihadist Islamic State (IS) group in Manbij,
Syria, in the bloodiest attack since 2014 against the forces of the international coalition.

The spokesman for the US-led anti-jihadist international coalition has specified the attack because of "an explosion during a routine patrol". According to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (OSDH), the attack took place near a restaurant in the center of Manbij, in the north of the country.

Wednesday's attack was the most deadly for American forces
Syria, according to the Pentagon figures, which in recent years has reported two Americans killed in combat in that country in two separate episodes.
This occurred after the announcement, in December, of the imminent withdrawal of 2,000 American soldiers from Syria. President Donald Trump justified this decision by ensuring that IS was defeated.
