Sixteen people, including four Americans, were killed on Wednesday in a suicide attack by the jihadist Islamic State (IS) group in Manbij,
Syria, in the bloodiest attack since 2014 against the forces of the international coalition.

"Two members of the United States service, a civilian from the Department of Defense and a contractor he claimed"this ministry" were killed and three members of the service were injured, "explained the Pentagon.

The spokesman for the US-led anti-jihadist international coalition has specified the attack because of "an explosion during a routine patrol". According to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (OSDH), the attack took place near a restaurant in the center of Manbij, in the north of the country.

Among the other 12 dead, there are five fighters of an Arab-Kurdish militia accompanying the American patrol, said the oenegé.

A video shot by a local Kurdish agency on the drama site shows a blackened and completely destroyed facade, the floor covered with debris and blood on the walls.

After the attack, armored Americans were seen in the streets of Manbij, while armed soldiers stood guard, found an employee of the AFP.

It is the first suicide attack in Manbij against the international coalition for ten months

EI said in a statement on the Telegram network that the attack was carried out by "kamikaze brother Abu Yasin al Shami", who detonated the jacket full of explosives while passing a "patrol with members of the crossed coalition ".

In 2016, the Syrian democratic forces (SDF), supported by the international coalition, led the IS from Manbij. In 2017, the Pentagon reported that US troops had been deployed in this area.

Despite the defeats inflicted on the IS, which saw the territories under its control reduced to a minimum, the jihadist group still manages to perpetrate deadly attacks. Led by the United States, the coalition operates in Syria against the IS since 2014, mainly supporting the SDS.

Wednesday's attack was the most deadly for American forces
Syria
, according to the Pentagon figures, which in recent years has reported two Americans killed in combat in that country in two separate episodes.

This occurred after the announcement, in December, of the imminent withdrawal of 2,000 American soldiers from Syria.
President Donald Trump justified this decision by ensuring that IS was defeated.

This jihadist group is entrenched in a reduced in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, where it is the goal of an offensive by the SDS. Some members of IS have taken refuge in the Syrian desert.

According to OSDH, more than 2,000 people, including dozens of IIS fighters, have left a low in the east of the country on Wednesday after intense coalition bombings.
