The Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine shows 92% efficacy in protecting against Covid-19, as reported by the state fund RDIF, citing provisional results of a study. The fund supports the development and global commercialization of the vaccine.

Mainz-based Biontech and pharmaceutical company Pfizer only announced on Monday that their vaccine offered up to 90% protection against the disease. They want to deliver 50 million doses of the vaccine this year and about 1.3 billion in 2021 – worldwide. Each person must be vaccinated twice.

Switzerland should also negotiate with Biontech. Meanwhile, experts are working on a possible vaccination strategy. According to Stefan Kuster of the BAG, this depends on the respective vaccine. It just seems clear that risk groups and their environment will come first.
