Shoukry, Kuwaiti prime minister, discusses ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah on Sunday ways to promote bilateral cooperation in different areas during the prime minister’s official visit to Kuwait.

Shoukry hailed Kuwaiti investment and economic presence in the Egyptian market, affirming the Egyptian government’s interest in attracting more Kuwaiti investment streams in light of the large and preferential investment opportunities in the Egyptian market. They also decided to increase trade between the two countries in the next period.

Previously, Shoukry also met with the new emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He delivered a congratulatory message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Sheikh Nawaf on his recent inauguration as Emir of Kuwait. Al-Sisi also officially invited the Emir of Kuwait to visit Egypt.

During the meeting, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s aspiration to continue to deepen strong links with Kuwait and strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields in the coming period.

He also hailed Kuwait’s supportive stance towards Egypt in recent years and the key role of the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad in strengthening relations between the two countries.

For his part, Sheikh Nawaf stressed Egypt’s central role as a “pillar of security and stability” in the region, emphasizing Kuwait’s support for Egypt to achieve economic and social development.

The Emir of Kuwait also highlighted the need to continue coordination and consultations between Egypt and Kuwait in the light of their historical and deep relations.

Shoukry also met with the crown prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The Egyptian foreign minister also handed Sheikh Meshal a congratulatory message from President Al-Sisi on his appointment as crown prince.

The Egyptian minister expressed the country’s appreciation for Kuwaiti support for the Egyptian economy in recent years, especially from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
