A shooting left several injuries this Friday at a shopping mall near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States. The information is advanced through various American media.
Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride told CNN television that none of the injured appeared to be at risk of death. A large-scale police operation remained in the vicinity of Mayfair Mall, where the shooting took place. The suspect in this incident is on the run.
WISN-TV reported that at least five people were taken from the mall on stretchers, of which at least two were “sitting” and appeared to be aware.
Some people remained in the mall while the police searched for a suspect. The TV station interviewed several people outside the mall who said they had friends hiding in the stores inside.
Mall owner Brookfield Properties said in a statement that he was “discouraged and angry” that customers and shopkeepers were subjected to this violent incident, refusing to comment further.
There was a shooting at the Mayfair Mall in February, in which a city policeman, Joseph Mensah, shot and killed Alvin Cole, a 17-year-old black man. Police claimed that Cole was running away from the police. Mensah, who is also black, justified killing Cole by pointing a gun at him.
For several months the mall was the subject of sporadic protests following the shooting.
