A party in Tomtor, Russia. Alcohol flows into streams until it runs out. Party goers look for alcoholic alternatives and find hand sanitizers.
Nine people drink the disinfectant, reports “The Sun”. Contains: approximately 69% methanol – toxic to humans! Now one after another dies from the consequences.
Seven dead, two in a coma
After the first three victims died, the remaining six were flown to a hospital in Yakutsk. A federal commissioner for public health said: “There have been nine cases of poisoning with disinfectants, seven of which were fatal.”
The two remaining people are currently in a coma, their exact condition unknown. A criminal case has been opened. Against whom is also unknown. Local health authorities warn against drinking disinfectants.
Donald Trump wanted to inject it
As early as June of this year, a case became known where drinking disinfectant led to death or at least permanent damage: in the US state of New Mexico, three people died after drinking methanol-containing hand sanitizer. Another person went blind, health officials said.
US President Donald Trump (74) has even gone further: The US president has encouraged researchers to test people who directly inject disinfectants in the fight against the corona virus. Trump told White House reporters in August this year that it would be “interesting” to test it.
Shortly thereafter, however, he backed off: “I asked reporters a question sarcastically just to see what would happen,” Trump said. “I thought it was clear.” (myi)
