Coinbase Commerce has released a new update that allows the integration of WooCommerce, an e-commerce plug-in for WordPress. Other features of the update include the functionality to send Bitcoin [BTC] and Litecoin [LTC] directly from the Commerce app.
This is part of the presentation of Coinbase Commerce as a provider of unpaid payment solutions with cryptocurrency support. Reportedly, the WooCommerce plug-in feeds over 28% of all online stores, making it a considerable market entry for Coinbase. These online stores now have access to worldwide payments in cryptocurrencies with Coinbase. In their own words:
"This increase in access will lead to more widespread adoption and ultimately bring us closer to our goal of an open financial system."
They released details of the WooCommerce plugin support on their Github
Commerce is also releasing a Python library for its API, with additional libraries being built for Node.js, Ruby and PHP. This is in line with their intention to increase the adoption of cryptocurrencies in an accessible way.
They ended their announcement with reassurances to users that all payments made through the platform are peer-to-peer, which translates into a wallet-payment wallet. This, they say, allows merchants not to pay commissions to accept a transaction and gives them "complete control" over their funds.
Elias Yami, a cryptocurrency analyst, said on the move:
"The Coinbase Commerce application allows for a double implementation of the service strategy .. Added support for users to integrate cryptocurrencies with Existing payment will not only increase adoption, but will also ensure that it takes place through Coinbase Commerce. In addition, the increase in the name of Coinbase in US markets will lead to further adoption.
