Security according to the Government: officials announce the establishment of a new institution – News from sources

The Orban government wants to establish the National Directorate for Cyber ​​Security. The announcement was made by the cabinet secretary general, Antonel Tanase, who explained that the new institution will protect against cyber attacks and stop the departure of Romanian experts abroad, reports Mediafax.

Antonel Tănase, the secretary general of the government, announced that the cabinet experts are preparing the appearance of a new institution, the national cybersecurity directorate. He says this will increase protection against cyber attacks and keep a highly skilled workforce in the country.

“Romania needs a new mature approach, firm in everything that the civilian area of ​​cyber security means … The new direction will create the appropriate framework for Romanian specialists in the field of cybersecurity and will have a competitive salary scale, generating a sustainable development of this sector at a national level with beneficial and immediate effects on the national economy. Through the new management it will be possible to create nuclei of excellence that will help stop cerebral hemorrhage and maintain the highly qualified workforce in the country that is currently migrating abroad “, Antonel Tănase explained on Facebook.

According to the data presented by the government representative, more than 43,000 IT specialists have left Romania to work abroad and another 6,100 IT specialists work online in the country, but exclusively for foreign companies, mostly as freelancers.

Romania is currently competing with Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland and Spain to host the European Center for Industrial, Technological and Research Skills in Cyber ​​Security. The selection procedure was launched on 28 October and the decision, which requires the joint consent of the Member States, will be adopted on 9 December.
