According to the crisis cabinet for managing the health crisis, 18,626 patients were discharged in the last day.

Moscow remains the country’s main target, with 6,427 new cases and 69 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Previously, the capital’s authorities had announced a series of new health restrictions that will remain in effect until at least January 15.

For now, however, Moscow is eliminating the possibility of imposing a blockade on residents similar to the one decreed in the spring, pending developments.

Russia, with 1,903,253 cases, is the fifth country with the highest number of infections in the world, after the USA, India, Brazil and France.
