The president said the plant, located in the city of Bratsk (in the south of the country), will increase the capacity of the national pharmaceutical industry, “to which we have always given top priority”.
He added that the new facility being put into operation will increase the production of effective, high-quality drugs, including those used in the treatment of coronavirus, tuberculosis, diabetes, hepatitis and other serious diseases.
Regarding the Sputnik V vaccine, the Ethiopian ambassador to Moscow, Alemayehu Tegenu Aargau, told the press that “we always support Russian investments in our country. If Russian investors are interested in starting projects in our country, we salute them”. This also applies to the production of the Russian vaccine “.
He also stressed that Ethiopia “is a big market” and, moreover, “if production is launched in Ethiopia, the vaccine can be exported to other African countries”.
The director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kiril Dmitriev, reported that Russia has agreed to produce the vaccine in five countries, while it now has the capacity to produce 500 million doses of the vaccine per year.
