A Russia announced on Tuesday that it had asked the World Health Organization (WHO) an emergency authorization for the use of the vaccine against Covid-19, Sputnik V.
According to the international press, the Russian state fund that coordinates the production of the vaccine has submitted requests to the organization for the urgent registration of Sputnik V in the Emergency Use List (THE, acronym in English) and for the pre-qualification of the treatment, indicated for patients between 18 and 60 years.
The Russian vaccine – the first to be registered on 11 August this year – has been viewed with suspicion by the scientific community, both for the speed of its creation and for the fact that the institute responsible for its development has not produced any vaccines in the last 30 years. However, around 50 countries have already placed orders for doses of Sputnik V.
Please note that 25 September, to WHO has released criteria for evaluating vaccines against Covid-19 candidates for potential emergency use.
