Romania has surpassed 400,000 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Nearly 10,000 Romanians died

There have been 9,272 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Another 160 people have died after being infected with the coronavirus, while 1,139 COVID patients are hospitalized at ATI. After Friday’s toll, Romania surpassed 400,000 coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic.

To date, on 20 November, 403,123 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed in Romania.

278,676 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 9,272 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) have been recorded, being cases that had not previously had a positive test.

Aside from recently confirmed cases, following retesting of already positive patients, 1,412 people were positively reconfirmed.

According to the data transmitted by the authorities, in the county of Sibiu the contagion rate falls below 9 per thousand inhabitants.

To date, 9,756 people have died diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Between 19.11.2020 (10:00) – 20.11.2020 (10:00) 160 deaths (104 men and 56 women) were reported, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mehibiu Satimi Mare, Tulcea, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 8 deaths were recorded in the 40-49 age group, 15 deaths in the 50-59 age group, 38 deaths in the 60-69 age group, 64 deaths in the 70- age group. 79 years and 35 deaths in the over 80 category.

151 of the deaths recorded concerned some patients with comorbidities, 2 deceased patients had no comorbidities and for 7 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,548. Of these, 1,139 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 3,844,732 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 36,453 were performed in the past 24 hours, 21,299 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 15,154 upon request.

In Romania, 46,568 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in home isolation and 13,628 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 77,496 people are in home quarantine and 17 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 5,275 calls were recorded to the single emergency number 112 and 683 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), mainly open to information for citizens.

Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on November 19 this year, 7,645 penalties for minor offenses, equal to 1,155,005 lei.

In addition, yesterday, through the competent structures of the Police Forces, 2 crimes against the fight against diseases were ascertained, an act envisaged and punished by art. 352 criminal code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has made operational, starting from 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection regulations can be reported.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified problems.

As for the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,864 Romanian citizens were confirmed infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,935 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in the United Kingdom, 36 in Hungary, 28 in Holland, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
