The latest controversy is linked to the tender for the four corvettes, worth over 1.2 billion euros. The auction was stopped by the Ministry of Defense without any plausible explanation. Big problems are also the purchase of 750 million euros for military trucks, where the German company RheinMetall accuses the Ministry of Defense of favoring a competitor, reports g4media.

Furthermore, Liviu Dragnea clearly expressed the desire to negotiate directly with "the president of France, the chancellor of Germany".

"I do not believe in my European army, Romania can not get into these adventures, we have to build economic cooperation relationships, not just with some important EU states, these relationships can not be built simply by communicating with the ambassadors here. Romania must have some good friends, but if for an important acquisition there is no discussion with the president of France, the chancellor but the ambassadors, then we are directing where such relationships can be built, "said Liviu Dragnea in an interview with Antena 3 on 27 December 2018.

Another military acquisition with the backstage scandal is that of buying over 3,000 military trucks.

The German company Rheinmetall officially accused irregularities in the tender procedure.

At the end of November 2018, the German company challenged the procedure of the MApN, accusing the ministry of the drafting of the specification in favor of the Italian company Iveco. The auction has not yet been completed.
