About 80,000 of the 400,000 would be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of December, said Soigu, who said only 2,500 soldiers had received the treatment so far.
Russia was the first country to introduce a new coronavirus vaccine, registering the Sputnik V vaccine in August.
The vaccine is currently being tested by around 20,000 volunteers. Interfax reported that Minister Sergei Shoigu was vaccinated against COVID-19 in September.
Since the start of the pandemic, Russia has recorded over 2.2 million cases of COVID-19 (ranking 5th in the world), including 27,543 in the last day alone.
