Lady Vestey was the wife of the courtier Sam Vestey, the third baron, former owner of the queen’s horse. She was a close friend of Queen Elizabeth II, aged 94, and Prince Charles, aged 72, and was part of their social circle.
A notice of her death was posted in the Daily Telegraph, saying: Celia Elizabeth died suddenly, but peacefully, on Saturday, November 28, aged 71. The funeral will be private, only with the family. The memorial service will be later. And the flowers to be donated in memory of Celia to the Ebony Horse Club are reported in the message from the family.
According to reports, her appointment sparked a family dispute because Princess Anne was not selected as the godmother.
Prince Harry was baptized in St George’s Chapel in Windsor, where he later married. Lady Celia Vestey also attended Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19 May 2018.
Lady Celia was a member of the Queen’s inner circle, along with her husband, Lord Samuel Vestey. Lord Samuel served as Master of the Horse at the Royal House from 1999 to 2018. He was named the monarch’s permanent “Lord-in-waiting” in August 2019, writes hellomagazine.
