Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Wednesday he was "surprised" by the suspension of the visit to Denmark by US President Donald Trump, after refusing to apply to the sale of Greenland, but said that this would not affect the relationship between the two countries.

"Of course I am sorry and I am surprised that the President of the United States has canceled his visit," Frederiksen said at a press conference, which rejected a diplomatic crisis, kept the invitation to Trump in the future and emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation, especially in the Arctic.

Frederiksen emphasized that the United States is "one of the countries with which" Denmark has "a closer relationship" and is the "most important ally in security policy". Neither country is interested in a crisis, the Prime Minister argued that, however, he reiterated his position on the Greenland issue.
