"Our economy is still relatively closed to foreign investment, we want to change it," Bolsonaro said at his first international appearance. His government will reduce taxes, privatize state-owned enterprises, reduce bureaucracy and fight widespread corruption.
Protection of the environment and biodiversity
The fear that his right-wing government would reduce environmental protection in the largest economy of Latin America, met the former military in his speech. "Brazil does a lot for the environment and nature conservation," he said.
"We want to make progress while maintaining environmental protection and biodiversity," Bolsonaro continued. However, he also stressed that Brazil has many natural resources that could be used economically. (WHR / SDA / dpa)
