This Panamanian container ship, docked at the port terminal, was the one with the highest carrying capacity to call at the port and covers a route from China to the east coast of the United States.
On its way it connects the ports of Cartagena, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Xiamen, Quindao, Pusan, Shanghai and Hong Kong in Asia; as well as with New York, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Savannah and Charleston in the United States.
The possibility of receiving ships with large loading capacity responds to the investments made by the port of Cartagena and its Contecar container terminal, which amount to 156 million dollars and which allow the mobilization of 3.2 million TEUs per year.
“Colombia continues to strengthen its infrastructure in licensed ports, which improves connection processes, but also transforms them into centers of international maritime trade not only for their geographical position but also for their operational capacity, and this is something we have promoted in a joint effort. with the port companies ”, assured the Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco.
The ship YM Warranty is part of the Alliance fleet and has left the city of Cartagena for the port of Pusan in South Korea. Its cargo is general cargo and import and transhipment cargo.
For his part, the vice president of contract management of ANI, Luis Eduardo Gutiérrez, stressed that during this year “the port companies did not stop for a single day despite the pandemic, which allowed the arrival of large capacity ships to the country. This responds to the investments made in the port infrastructure area and to the impulse given by the national government to improve competitiveness and international trade in Colombia ”.
