The US elections are in the pipeline. Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump still have a chance to win. However, Joe Biden managed to nearly double his lead in Nevada on Friday night and slightly increase it twice in the decisive state of Pennsylvania. If Biden wins Pennsylvania, that would be enough for the presidency. He’s been leading since Friday afternoon. Here is an overview of how it is in the respective states:
Pennsylvania – 20 voters – Biden once again extends his lead slightly
Eventually, the state of the Rust Belt could determine who wins the election. Trump was still clearly in the lead on Wednesday with around 700,000 votes. Ever since the mail-order votes were counted, Biden has overtaken Trump. Biden has been leading since Friday night and is now about 13,000 votes ahead of Trump (0.2%). Now more than 95 percent of the votes are counted in Pennsylvania. In the event of a difference of 0.5 percent or less, the recount of votes is required by law.
Georgia – 16 voters – Biden leads, recount expected
In Georgia, more than 99 percent of the vote is counted. According to an estimate by CNN, around 4,000 votes have yet to be counted (at 5:10 pm CET). In addition, many of the votes of US Army personnel serving overseas will not count for the next few days.
In turn, they may more likely lean towards Trump. So it may take a few days before the state is officially decided. Since the preliminary result was extremely close for Biden, there will be a recount of the votes in Georgia, the New York Times reports, citing state election officials. Biden currently leads with around 1,500 votes.
Arizona – Eleven voters – Biden’s lead shrinks slightly
News broadcaster Fox News and AP news agency denounced the state of Arizona to Joe Biden a while ago, only less than 10 percent of the votes need to be counted – some 140,000 postal votes have yet to be counted. Joe Biden currently has a lead of around 43,800 votes, recently Donald Trump has achieved quite a bit.
When to expect new results: The new election results are expected on Saturday evening at 3:00 German time. Then the election officials of the Maricopa district want to publish the new election results.
Nevada – 6 voters – Biden extends command
More than 90 percent of the votes are counted here. More recently, Biden has been able to expand his narrow lead a bit – from around 11,000 to 21,000 votes. A fraction of the pending votes in Democratic Clark County – which also includes Las Vegas – are still pending. In total, tens of thousands of votes are still pending. The loser of the election can request a re-count of the votes within three business days, but must leave a deposit to cover the estimated cost of the count.
When to expect new results: On Friday evening, German time, around 30,000 more votes were counted. What remains and has yet to be counted are the postal votes dated November 3, and some won’t arrive for counting until next week. These votes will be counted until November 12th.
North Carolina – 15 voters – Trump just ahead
Trump leads with about 77,000 votes after counting at least 95 percent of the votes. In fact, this state is very conservative. Trump also won it in 2016. Almost every scenario in his campaign dictates that he must win this state to secure his re-election. Republicans have won ten of the last twelve presidential elections.
Wisconsin – 10 voters – Biden wins – Trump can count again
After Trump surprisingly won Wisconsin in 2016, Biden has ten voters here this time. It was a very close competition. Trump drove long before Biden was declared the winner with a 0.6% lead, which equates to 21,000 votes. Trump Republicans have already announced that they will require a vote count in Wisconsin, which state law allows by this small margin.
Michigan – 16 voters – Biden wins
The neighboring state Michigan Biden, on the other hand, got a relatively net advantage of 2.4%, which equates to around 130,000 votes.
