Following the tests carried out at national level, compared to the last report, they were recorded 8,262 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19), these are cases that have not previously had a positive test.
As of Tuesday, November 17, 373,474 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Romania.
253,244 patients were declared cured.
Apart from the recently confirmed cases, following the re-examination of already positive patients, 497 people were positively reconfirmed.
To date, 9,261 people have died diagnosed with SARS – CoV – 2 infection.
Between 16.11.2020 (10:00) and 17.11.2020 (10:00) 186 deaths were reported (110 men and 76 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Botoşani, Brăila, Braşov, Călăraşi, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Galaţi, Gorj, Harghita, Hunaşa, Hospital, Maramureş, Mehedinţi, Mureş, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiş, Tulcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.
Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, 5 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 15 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 45 deaths in the age category 60- 69 years, 69 deaths in the 70-79 age group and 51 deaths in the over 80 category.
182 of the recorded deaths concerned patients with comorbidities and 4 deceased patients did not have comorbidities.
In health care units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,292. Of these, 1,174 are hospitalized at ATI.
To date, 3,733,410 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 31,082 were performed in the past 24 hours, 18,868 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 12,214 upon request.
In Romania, 46,884 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in home isolation and 13,382 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 80,262 people are in home quarantine and 16 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 6,412 calls were recorded to the single emergency number 112 and 1,046 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), mainly open to information for citizens.
Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, police and gendarmes applied, on November 16 this year, 7,633 penalties for minor crimes, equal to 1,308,631 lei.
In addition, yesterday 8 crimes were ascertained through the competent police structures to combat the fight against diseases, an act envisaged and punished by art. 352 criminal code.

A new COVID-19 report shows that the number of infected people is decreasing. Furthermore, the number of people reinfected with SARS-CoV-2 has decreased.
COVID-19 deaths
Between 15.11.2020 (10:00) and 16.11.2020 (10:00) they were reported 149 dead (86 men and 63 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Botoşani, Brăila, Braşov, Caraş-Severin, Cluj, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Galaţi, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomiţa, Iaşi, Maramureş, Mehedinţi, Mureş, Olt, Prahova, Sălaj, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.
- Of these, one death was recorded in the age group 30-39, 4 deaths in the age group 40-49, 7 deaths in the age group 50-59, 36 deaths in the age group 60- 69, 50 deaths in the 70-79 age group and 51 deaths in the over 80 category
- 141 of the deaths recorded involved some patients with comorbidities, 5 deceased patients did not have comorbidities and for 3 patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.
- To date, 9,075 people have died diagnosed with SARS – CoV – 2 infection.
Patients admitted to ATI and recently completed tests
In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,467. Of these, 1.187 are hospitalized at ATI.
To date, 3,702,328 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 11,266 were performed in the last 24 hours, 7,499 based on case definition and medical protocol and 3,767 upon request.
General COVID-19 situation in Romania
In Romania, 47,397 people confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus are in home isolation and 13,229 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 80,152 people are quarantined at home and 17 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours they have been recorded 3,522 calls to the single emergency number 112.
Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, applied by the police and gendarmes, on November 15 this year, 9,930 penalties for minor offenses, equal to 1,988,595 lei.
Furthermore, yesterday 7 crimes were ascertained through the competent structures of the Police to combat the fight against diseases, an act envisaged and punished by art. 352 criminal code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has made operational, starting from 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection regulations can be reported. The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified aspects.
The situation of Romanians abroad
As for the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,862 Romanian citizens were confirmed infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,934 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in the United Kingdom, 36 in Hungary, 28 in Holland, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece have died.
Of the Romanian citizens confirmed infected with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
