The number of new COVID-19 cases reported on Wednesday (November 18) has again exceeded the “10,000 limit”.

The report released by the government shows that in the last 24 hours, 10,269 new cases of infection have been recorded and 168 people have died. The number of patients admitted to ATI is 1,174.

To date, on November 18, 383,743 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed on the territory of Romania.
261,387 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at national level, compared to the last report, 10,269 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) have been recorded, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

Aside from recently confirmed cases, following retesting of already positive patients, 1,207 people were positively reconfirmed.

168 deaths in 24 hours
To date, 9,429 people have died diagnosed with SARS – CoV – 2 infection.

Between 17.11.2020 (10:00) – 18.11.2020 (10:00) 168 deaths were reported (102 men and 66 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Braila, Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Covasna, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 4 deaths were recorded in the age group 40-49, 16 deaths in the age group 50-59, 42 deaths in the age group 60-69, 62 deaths in the age group 70- 79 years and 44 deaths in the over 80 category.

163 of the deaths recorded concern some patients who presented comorbidities and 5 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

1,174 patients at ATI


In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,179. Of these, 1,174 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 3,771,316 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 37,906 were performed in the past 24 hours, 23,269 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 14,637 on request.

On the Romanian territory, 46,875 people confirmed infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home and 13,285 people are in institutionalized isolation. In addition, 80,763 people are quarantined at home and there are 19 people in institutionalized quarantine.

5,494 calls in 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, 5,494 calls were recorded to the single emergency number 112 and 747 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically to inform citizens.

Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 concerning some measures to prevent and counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmerie applied, on November 17 this year, 7,768 fines, equal to 1,357,090 lei.

Furthermore, through the competent police structures, 7 crimes were ascertained yesterday to combat the fight against diseases, an act envisaged and punished by art. 352 criminal code.

“We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has made operational, starting from 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) for which violations of health protection regulations can be reported”, states the press release.

The situation of Romanian citizens abroad
With regard to the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,863 Romanian citizens were confirmed infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,935 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in Great Britain, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece have died.

Among Romanian citizens confirmed with novel coronavirus infection, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Coronavirus pandemic record in Romania

The highest number of new cases recorded in 24 hours (10,269) was reported on November 18, 2020.

The highest number of deaths (203) was recorded on 11 November 2020.

The highest number of patients admitted to ATI (1,187) was reported on November 16, 2020.
