Nearly 10,000 new coronavirus cases. ATI is approaching maximum capacity

Increasingly worrying data regarding the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic in Romania. In the last 24 hours alone, 9,714 infections were detected – more than a thousand more than the previous day – out of 37,685 tests. Another 121 people died in this period, and at ATI the situation is serious: there are 1,014 patients, a new record.

To date, 276,802 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed in Romania on 5 November. 191,085 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out nationwide, compared to the last report, 9,714 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) have been recorded, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

The coefficient of accumulated infections at 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality and of the counties of Bucharest. Apart from the recently confirmed cases, following the re-examination of already positive patients, 2,039 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 7,540 people have died diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Between 04.11.2020 (10:00) – 05.11.2020 (10:00) 121 deaths (68 men and 53 women) were reported, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Călărași, Caraş-Severin, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Ialomița, Iași, Mehedinți, Mureș, Seamele Suceaş, Tormuiceava , Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 5 deaths were recorded in the age group 40-49, 12 deaths in the age group 50-59, 37 deaths in the age group 60-69, 38 deaths in the age group 70-79 and 29 deaths in the category of over 80 years.

112 of the deaths recorded involved some patients with comorbidities, 1 deceased patient did not have comorbidities and for 8 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 12,061. Of these, 1,014 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 3,379,609 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 37,685 were performed in the past 24 hours, 21,622 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 16,063 upon request.

Furthermore, from the latest information provided by GCS, the results of 57 tests processed before the last 24 hours and sent until November 5th were reported.

In Romania, 37,685 people confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus are in home isolation and 10,042 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 63,938 people are quarantined at home and there are 9 people in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 3,330 calls were registered to the unique emergency numbers 112 and 974 of the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), mainly open to inform citizens.

Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes have applied, in the last 24 hours, 8,177 penalties for minor crimes, for 1,065,695 lei.

Furthermore, through the competent police structures, 7 crimes were ascertained yesterday to combat the fight against diseases, an act envisaged and punished by art. 352 criminal code.

“We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has made operational, starting from 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the health protection regulations can be reported. The tenders are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the local structures for the verification of the notified aspects ”, states the Strategic Communication Group.

Coronavirus: the situation of Romanians abroad

As for the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,853 Romanian citizens were confirmed infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,934 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 159 in the United Kingdom, 36 in Hungary, 28 in Holland, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
